In the past years, the COVID-19 pandemic has created havoc among people, the economy and medicine. It has thrown the spotlight on the questions of human health and has put the world of medicine, and preventive healthcare into frenzy. The pressure on the pharmaceutical industry has mounted like never before. In the midst of the pandemic and a changed world, the pharmaceutical industry across the world has responded with agility -from the sequencing of the novel coronavirus in January to vaccines being administered to the first recipient in the United Kingdom by December 2020, with efficacy level over 90%, exceeding all expectations of governments and markets across the geographies. There is indeed a silver lining due to intense digital transformation within this crisis. The emerging digital innovation and new technologies in healthcare, medical education and virtual communications are likely to stay and advance further. Globally, pandemic has also paved the way for the use of traditional Indian therapies such as Ayurveda and Yoga and has made a strong foothold during the pandemic years and continues to be growing as the preferred form of medicine among many.
